Tameri spoke first. “Akana, we understand that you want to join us at the Temple for instruction. We have been monitoring you and know of your gifts.”

“I do want to come to the Temple! Akana blurted out. "I have seen you in my dreamtime. I know you've been watching me.”

“Excellent, excellent!” Kahotep smiled at the young woman before him. “It’s not often that someone your age, with no training in the metaphysical arts, is able to observe the observers. You have much potential. Tameri and I agree that you may come to the Temple, but only if it is what you truly want.”

Kahotep’s piercing eyes held Akana’s gaze, making her squirm a bit. “You need to be sure of your choice to be a priestess of the Temple of the Great Goddess, Akana. Do not choose this because you want to please your family or bring honor to them, but because you yourself desire to give service to the Goddess in this way. This is not an easy path. There will be many hard decisions and sacrifices to be made along the way.
