I think the hardest thing for me to describe is who I am. I don't really think I know the answer to that. But the answer to that question must start with the basics. My real name is Yujing Yue; it's Chinese, and seems strange to some Americans, so here I go by the name Agnes. I was born on December 2nd, 1986 in a small city in Northern China. I moved to Beijing a little later, and from there to Massachusetts, the place I now call home.

China and its culture were great influences on me. True, I'm only fourteen as of now, but I always wanted to be able to publish a book in the 'grown up' world. For some reason I wanted, and still want, to be different from the people around me. I've always loved reading and writing. The first story I wrote that was supposed to be published when I was in the second grade.

I'm a strange person, to say the least, often closed away in my own little world apart from reality. Each of my characters have a little bit of my personality, even if these characteristics are sometimes exaggerated. I have a rather harsh way of looking at life, but I still didn't approve of how dark Fantasy was becoming. My image of Fantasy stories were tales of adventures that ended in happiness, not the often depressing realms that are so common now. Which is what drove me to try to get my book published, since I wanted to change the direction of the way of writing fantasy. It's a big dream, and it may not be possible, but that won't stop me from trying to achieve it.

I've always been, and strived to be, different from everyone else. As for whether or not I'm making my way toward my goal, that is up to my readers.
