At Castleton State College (Chair 1981-85), Professor Burton taught American, English, and Continental Literature, Greek Tragic Poetry, Native Studies, Speech and Writing for 26 years. In addition to novels and screen works, Professor Burton has written and published essays on Literature, and as Eastern Bureau Editor of The Turtle Quarterly of The Native American Center for the Living Arts (Niagara Falls, NY) essays on Native American Issues, Government, History, and, as contributor to THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF NATIVE AMERICAN LEGAL TRADITION (Johansen, ed. West Port Ct., London: Greenwood Press. 1998), Natural Law (Natural Man and Woman).
